The aims of the project:
• Promotion of the contemporary Georgian scenography through revelation of the creative searches and opportunities of young artists.
Objectives:
• To promote and demonstrate within the “Artist’s Theater” concept, the experimental ideas of young Georgian stage designers which were not/could not be realized on the theater scene.
• To provide the packaging and presentation of scenography projects realized for the qualifying competition for the Prague International Quadrennial close to the international standards.
Project overview
The project is based on the comparative analysis of the contemporary Georgian theater set and aims to reveal the mainstream in the experimental projects and works of young stage designers, which did not appear on stage setting.
In the frames of the project we developed the young stage designers database and competition criteria. As a result of selection based on those criteria the summary exhibition of experiments and projects implemented by young people was organized. The results were analyzed and reflected in the working concept of the Georgian curatorial group for the Prague International Quadrennial. The final phase of the project was dedicated to the identification of the PQ participants.
The project target groups are the modern Georgian theater society and the audience interested in the scenography and visual arts.
The participants are divided into several groups:
• Project staff -5 persons;
• Jury members/they will be selected from the for board members and experts group by the project beginning/ -3 persons;
• exhibition participants -5 to 10 persons according to the selection.
Young artists exhibition “Dream & Reality” was held in frames of the project
Address: 2 Shalva Dadiani street, (The Europe House) Opening 1.02 at 19:00. Closing 10.02.
The exhibition presented the works of young Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijan stage designers.
The exhibition aimed to represent the current situation in the modern scenography, especially the realized and unrealized performances of the young stage designers /the generation born after 1970/.
The project implementation was due to the capabilities of young stage designers who stayed beyond the vision of the directors /and the cultural world in general/ and aimed at creation of an experimental environment that would boost the complimentary production and staging ideas.
The exhibition was aimed to demonstrate the capabilities of the artists, who are particularly outstanding in comparison of the unrealized original projects and the projects staged on the theater scene.
The artists presented at the exhibition are mainly stage designers working in a variety of directions: the scene design, costume design, virtual scenography, installation art, and have practical staging experience.
